Teresa's MISSION

We believe every person deserves confidence, color, and a place to belong.

Local Threads was born from a love of downtown Aiken and the women who bring it to life. We're here to fill your wardrobe with affordable colorful and beautiful clothing from business to casual styles.  Our clothing is curated with thoughtful consideration to a busy lifestyle and made to carry you from work to an enjoyable night out. More than a store, it's a place to feel good, find a little encouragement, and let your own personality shine through everything you wear.

Our Story

Local Threads began with a simple vision — that downtown Aiken needed something more. Founder Teresa Cheek set out to invest back into the community she loves, creating a store that brings color and beautiful things to the women who work, live, and gather here. From size, material, color and cost, every piece is chosen to be fun, and easy to wear.

When you walk into Local Threads you are greeted with fun and color.  A little something for everyone. When owner Teresa was asked the question; why so much emphasizes on color she said: “Growing up, my mama would always say flowers are God's gift of colorful love and beauty.  They bring us so much joy while giving us so many colors to celebrate.   Each one is its own little masterpiece, like us we are all unique.  It’s hard to find two flowers that look the same. That's what I wanted to build here; a place that brings different variations of color to Aiken and to the beautiful women in it.” – Teresa Cheek

The store has grown into a go-to-spot for not only women but also offering children’s and men’s attire as well as a selection of Home and Gift items.  You will find “free to everyone” kindness and encouragement to let your own personality shine through what you wear and gift.

THE FOUNDER

Built on a love for Aiken

Local Threads began with a simple belief — that downtown Aiken deserved something more. We are a quaint community that thrives on our love for locals but welcomes guest from around the World. Founder Teresa Cheek set out to invest back into the community she loves, building a hang out spot for locals to shop, pray, conversate and just enjoy a “different” shopping experience.
HOW WE WORK

Our Operations

Behind every piece at Local Threads is a simple commitment — to bring color, quality, and care to the women of Aiken. From thoughtfully selecting clothing that flatters petites, talls, and plus sizes, to curating pieces that move easily from the workday into the evening, every decision is made with our customer in mind. Located at 124 Lawrence Street Northwest in the heart of downtown, we sit proudly alongside New Moon, the Red Door, and the other local small businesses that give Aiken its character. But Local Threads is built to be more than a store. In the back, we've set aside a space for mocktails, coffee, and water — a place to slow down, connect, and feel at home. Whether you stop in for a little encouragement, a moment of prayer, or simply the joy of playing in beautiful clothes, our heart is the same: to help every woman feel good, feel welcome, and feel completely herself.
